The Kampala International School (KISU) is an international school in Kampala, Uganda, located in the neighborhood of Bukoto. It was formerly named Kabira International School of Uganda. In November 2009, the school underwent renovations and upgrading for a total cost of USh 11 billion (US$5.8 million at the time). The new campus contains primary and secondary sections, four science laboratories, three computer laboratories, an eight-lane swimming pool, two amphitheaters, and multiple fully equipped and multimedia enabled classrooms. These renovations gave KISU the capacity to accommodate up to 1,500 students and over 100 faculty members.

he Aga Khan Education Service (AKES) was created by Sir Sultan Mahomed Shah Aga Khan, the current Aga Khan's predecessor and grandfather. Aga Khan Schools were first established as early as 1905. Kibuli Secondary School was established in 1945 as a Junior School, on the 80 acre land donated by the late Prince Badru Wasajja Kakungulu, with the major objective of educating Muslim children in order to redress the historical imbalance in Muslim education relative to other religious denominations.

In 1989, Scuola Italiana Padre Giuseppe Ambrosoli was set up by a group of Italian parents who named it after Father Ambrosoli, as he had inspired so many of them who had worked with him in northern Uganda. The small school did very well and after a few years was opened up to the international community. The international school started in kindergarten and progressively expanded into primary. Eventually, the two schools merged.
