Kampala University opened its doors to the pioneer students on 16th-02-1999 under the Leadership of the able Founding Vice-Chancellor Owek.Amb.Al-haj.Prof.Dr.Badru D Kateregga in the premises currently hosting K.I.U in Kansanga . But due to some problems, the Institution relocated in 2000 to Ggaba for a better working environment. By then, the biggest number of students were Kenyans, followed by Ugandans but as per now it has more than 15000 students from different nationalities.
